Get Wegovy Prescription Online: Packaged with the Medication

Wegovy for weight loss requires a prescription from a licensed doctor. Using the Invigor Medical telewellness platform, you can get a Wegovy prescription online from a licensed doctor if they believe Wegovy is the best weight loss medication for you. After completing the medical forms and speaking with a licensed doctor, your Wegovy prescription will be sent to one of our partnered pharmacies, all packaged as part of the treatment plan cost.

Wegovy is a U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved medication for chronic weight management. It is to be used in conjunction with a low-calorie diet and exercise. Wegovy is manufactured by the Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, a company that also manufactures Rybelsus and Ozempic, which are also brand name medications for semaglutide. Unlike Wegovy, Rybelsus and Ozempic are approved to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Wegovy is self-administered once weekly by subcutaneous (under the skin) injection. It is intended for people with either

  • A body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m2 or greater, which is considered obese.
  • A BMI of 27 kg/m2 or greater with at least one weight-related medical condition, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, or abnormal lipid levels. A BMI of 27 kg/m2 is defined as overweight.

How Wegovy Can Help You Lose Weight

Wegovy is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) analogue. It mimics the activity of GLP-1 in your body. GLP-1 is released by cells in the small intestine after you eat. It binds to GLP-1 receptors throughout the body.

Wegovy (a GLP-1 analogue) binds to receptors in your brain, stomach, and pancreas and induces weight loss by:

  • Reducing hunger
  • Slowing stomach emptying
  • Suppressing glucagon release

When you feel full for longer and are less hungry, you are likely to eat less and lose weight.

How do I know Wegovy is Effective for Weight Loss?

The FDA-approved Wegovy based on the outcomes of the Semaglutide Treatment Effect in People with Obesity (STEP) clinical trials. The initial STEP series comprised four 68-week, randomized, double-blind clinical trials that enrolled approximately 4,500 adults who were overweight or obese according to BMI guidelines.

Clinical trial participants either received Wegovy or a placebo. Those who received Wegovy lost an average of 15% of their body weight, translating to about 34 pounds lost. The placebo group participants lost about 2.5% of their body weight, about six pounds. These clinical trials demonstrated Wegovy’s safety and effectiveness. STEPs 5-8 are in progress or completed, as are STEP TEENS and the Semaglutide Effects on Heart Disease and Stroke in Patients with Overweight or Obesity (SELECT) Wegovy research clinical trial.

Wegovy injection

Wegovy Prescription for Weight Loss Dosage

Prescription Wegovy is available in five strengths:

  • 0.25/0.5 ml
  • 0.5 mg/0.5 ml
  • 1mg/0.5 ml
  • 1.7 mg/ 0.75 ml
  • 2.4 mg /0.75 ml

Each Wegovy pen is a single-use pen that is designed for injection just under the skin. The pen is already loaded with the prescribed dose. Your Wegovy prescription will give dosage instructions, but typically you will use a gradually increasing dose until you reach the maintenance dose of 2.4 mg weekly.

The standard dosing schedule is:

  • Month 1: 0.25 mg once a week
  • Month 2: 0.5 mg once a week
  • Month 3: 1 mg once a week
  • Month 4: 1.7 mg once a week
  • Month 5 and beyond: 2.4 mg once a week

Once you reach the 2.4 mg weekly dose, you have completed the escalation process and will stay on the maintenance dose. Inject the dose on the same day of the week.

Wegovy Side Effects

Wegovy, like all medications, has side effects. When you fill out your medical forms on the Invigor Medical telehealth platform, it is important to provide as much information as possible about your medical history and any medications or supplements you are taking.

The most common side effects associated with the GLP-1 drugs, including Wegovy, and the percent of people experiencing them in clinical trials:

  • Nausea (44%)
  • Diarrhea (30%)
  • Vomiting (24%)
  • Constipation (24%)
  • Stomach pain (20%)
  • Headache (14%)
  • Fatigue (11%)
  • Heartburn (9%)
  • Dizziness (8%)
  • Stomach bloating (7%)
  • Burping/flatulence (7%)
  • Low blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes (6%)
  • Gas (6%)
  • Gastroenteritis (6%)
  • Acid reflux (5%)
  • Stomach irritation (4%)
  • Viral gastroenteritis (4%)
  • Hair loss (3%)

Although clinical trials are as comprehensive as possible, they can’t check for every interaction. Therefore, it is important to discuss any side effects you experience with your doctor. A dosage change may be needed to reduce the severity of a side effect, such as nausea or diarrhea.

In the STEPs clinical trials, 5.8% of patients taking Wegovy and 11.6% of patients taking a placebo discontinued treatment due to side effects.
